Beta player in QVGA or VGA mode?
So does it make a difference, quality-wise, to run Betaplayer in VGA mode? I switched between QVGA and VGA and didn't see any difference in watching anime, even though I'd have thought I would have?

Which Program gives a PPC QVGA and VGA abilities? If you turn off say OZ_VGA on an X50v you're still in VGA mode?

Unless we're talking about NYDITOT software now that I think about it...
It could be one of those VGA Enhancers though. I tried both, hated the effect and stick with OOTB or Standard VGA as I now refer to it.

I mean is Betaplayer better quality with SE_VGA or OZVGA or whatever running in 'true' VGA mode as opposed to out-of-the-box mode?

I'd think it would be the same. My xvids are encoded at 640 X 272 or higher and they look great in Standard VGA. It's not like oz or se makes the screen any bigger. just the opposite to my eyes

When your x50v is in native mode (i.e. without any "True VGA" hack), the display *is* VGA resolution, not QVGA, as you can see if you look closely to the fonts (you will not see the pixelling that you get on QVGA displays). So Betaplayer and the other video players and image viewers will all take advantage of the VGA resolution in what you call QVGA mode (which, in fact, is really a VGA mode in which all the user interface elements have been zoomed-up to prevent them from appearing smaller). Hope that helps.

How about playing VGA movies in QVGA Pocket PCs?
Is playing QVGA movies faster than playing VGA movies on a QVGA Pocket PC? Or does it have no effect?

When you play VGA movies on a QVGA Pocket PC (e.g. Axim x30): 1) The VGA video images needs to be decoded, which takes about 4 times more operations that decoding QVGA, because there are 4 times more pixels and 4 times more data to decode. 2) In addition, the VGA decoded video frames needs to be scaled down to QVGA, which cost even more operations. When you play QVGA video on a QVGA device, the number of operations will be 4 time less (in fact even less than that), and the quality will be the same, because your display is QVGA.
