Need help w/ PocketDivx!!!
I am having a lot of problems trying to encode a backup of "Fast and the Furious" while using PocketDivxEncoder, could someone who may have had this same problem please help me out? I am running Win98SE and have the latest version of DirectX(Ver.9.0c) installed. I used DVDDecrypter to decrypt the movie, b/c it was encrypted. I then used DVDShrink to shrink the files. I am following a popular DVD to PPC tutorial that I found on this website by the way. Following the instructions of the tutorial, I then fire up PocketDivxEncoder and attempt to load the file for encoding. A few seconds after I open the file for encoding PocketDivx freezes and Task Manager lists it as not responding. I have closed out every other program in Windows except PocketDivx and it is still crashing. Anybody else had this problem or know of a way to fix it? Also, I know that there are several different methods for ripping DVD to PPC; however, I really would like to stick to this method and continue to use DVDShrink and PocketDivx together. Thanks in advance for any helpful advice anybody may have.

Looks like PDE doesn't like your system (I've had similar problems). In the end I gave up using PDE and coughed up for Dr DiVx.

If you are converting from a DVD source, you could give FairUse a try:

http://www.fairusewizard.com/lang_en/

The free version limits output size to a max of 700Mb but that won't be a problem for downsizing for a PDA. I've used it to convert a load of Futurama episodes from the DVD boxsets and they look great on my X30's screen.

Thanks Vanamonde. I was beginning to wonder if anybody here was going to offer up any advice for me. I guess I'll get rid of PDE and give Fairuse a try.

I second fairuse. Great program, easy to use, very tweakalble. I have bought the full version and love it. I prefer XviD to DivX but you can do both with Fairuse.
