Help! Questions about DVD to Pocket PC, & Divx

How's it going everyone? Alright, yesterday I downloaded beta player and it is a great program. It plays mpegs better than Windows Media Player on my computer. That is pretty much all I have though (beta player). Now, I am wondering, what programs do I need to put a DVD movie of mine on my pocket pc and what exactly do I have to do? I got the new Fresh Prince of Bel Air DVD and was also wondering if it is possible to simply copy just 1 of the episodes onto my pocket pc (I assume the episodes are seperated by chapters). I was also wondering what all of this Divx talk is about. Are DVD movies converted to Divx and then copied onto the pocketpc? I heard Divx takes up less memory but have no idea how it works with my Axim. I am clueless and would appreciate any help that can be given so that I can load my DVD's onto my Axim to view them. Thanks a lot everyone!

you can also buy programs that do everything for you. They are a waste of money but if you are lazy and don't want to do it the free way (many steps)you can just buy one. I find the above mentioned link is a very effective and succsesful way to encode dvd to pocket pc.

Search the boards for a info on a program called"fair use".
It's free, works well and does the whole job for you. Highly recommended .

I have used the typical way, that was written in step-by-step on divx and virtualdub, it gave good results on my x5 but now I'm looking for a better quality file. WHat settings should be changed to get the best picture on my new x50v?

FairUse! FairUse! FairUse! You can get it here. If you want the walkthrough it is here As far as setting you can play around a bit, but limit the size to what ever you want. A good rule of thumb is 100MB for every 30 min. Also I set the audio to 96 in order to save space. And it sounds fine to me! Have fun! :approve:

Here is a link to a tutorial I wrote on how to encode movies for the PPC. With it you can select which episode you wish to encode.

Have Fun.

Sounds like a macrovision problem. Use DVD decryptor first then Fairuse and you will have cleaned the encryption off first.
