Arrow Problems with Fairuse

Hi, this is my first time using fairuse, and im a little stumped.

I managed to rip my dvd, and can play it on my computer with wmp10.

But when i go to burn the movie, it doesnt work, keep getting error meassages. Ive tried using Nero and Roxio cd creator and through wmp10. Nothing.

When i ripped the dvd , these are the files that were ripped:

Which file do i actually burn to a cd? And what are the huge 2 gig .fud files?

thanks

Just Sky Captain with the WMP symbol is what goes to a CD. The Fud's are the actual ripped DVD. You can delete them but they are useful if you want to go back and try different file sizes and resolutions in Fairuse. It knocks out that whole wait while the DVD is being indexed. That can save you over 1 hour of conversion time on some systems depending on the movie length.

I use FairUse for ripping a DVD to a size and file type I can use on my Axim. Like it was already said ~ Just copy the .avi file to your memory card and fire up BetaPlayer to watch.

If you are trying to back up your DVD as a copy there are other programs that work better. Check this out. They did a fine job with the step by step. Good Luck!

Thanks for the help guys.
I'd like to make a copy of my dvd to burn onto a regular 80 min/700mg cd-r.

What would be the best settings in fairuse to do this? The movie is 2 hours and 10 minutes.
If it cant fit onto one cd-r, how would i go about splitting it into two discs?
When i tried to burn my skycaptain movie, it didnt work. Noticed the file was 717,000 kb. I cant split it into files anymore cause i deleted all the .fud files.

thanks for the help

That will fit on a CD. Microsoft File Explorers report it as 698MB.

I burned the movie onto a 80 min cd-r. It will play on my computer but it wont play on any of my dvd players, and they are supposed to play cd-r's.

I checked the properties of the burned movie and says the "File system is in CDFS"

What kind of file is that? WHen i burned it did it change the avi into this type of file therefore cant play on my dvd player?

FU creates AVIs. Can DVD players play AVIs?

So the search for the elusive AVI to MPEG-1 convertor continues...

Search for a program called dvdx. HTH

Thank you.

How big a file do most of you set your fairuse to rip a movie.
I set it to 245 megs and the came out kinda blurry. A bit fuzzy. I can still watch it and all, but its not crisp. The movie was a 2 hour movie.

If you can give me a good setting for different length of movies, thanks

It varies depending who you ask. It has been my experience (very limited let me add) that 75MB to 100MB per 30 minutes usually cranks out pretty good results with VGA settings. I usually drop the audio down to like 64 and stereo. I only use FU such that I can watch the movies on my PDA, so I do not need super mega good quality audio as it will only be coming through my head phones anyway.

okay, i'll try that.

Another thing, i tried to download the xvid codecs. I uninstalled using winrar, and it seems to have installed cause i have a xvid folder with stuff in it. But when i try to rip a movie with FU, setting xvid, it says codecs are not installed.

Did i download the correct xvid file, and where do u install it too?

thanks

xvid is built into fairuse, it's the default. Do you mean divx?

I haven't tried downloading it yet but the only place I would download it from to try it is www.wmplugins.com
