kbit/s, kbps, data rate, Betaplayer questions

Excuse my stupidity, but the file RLXQ_640x480_1500_128.avi that is on Betaplayer's site and used for testing is a 1500 kbit/s file. When I look at the summary while in file properties in Windows XP it says the file has a data rate of 197 kbps. Could some one explain to me the difference?

Is it as simple as multipling the kbps by 7.61 to get the kbit/s? If I have a XviD AVI file that shows 76 kbps as data rate in Windows does that equate to 578 kbit/s? What is the proper math?

Is there any way to determine kbit/s while in Betaplayer? It does not appear in media info or anywhere else that I can see. I can find nothing in options to display this. PocketTV has that information below video while not in full screen.

Is there any program for Windows that gives all the details of the media?

Thanks!

There is a bug in XP media summery page. It show the combined KBytes/seconds rate of the media file (not just the video part). Example you could use GSpot to get all kind of information about a media file ( http://gspot.headbands.com/gspot252dl.html )

edit: the bug is not the KBytes/sec (which is just unusual), but that the combined (audio+video) data rate is show for the video.
