Stuck after 2 hours of patience ..

Hi,

I found the tutorials section of the Aximsite extremely absorbing and informative. I read the tutorial for:
How to Rip your favorite DVD to PPC
Tutorial by: Michael Smith (Crash613)

and followed the steps, but ran into the following problems:

1. The resulting file was movie.avi of size 631 Meg , because I used the high quality sound. I got a new kingston 1 GB elite pro CF card, and when I drag and drop the file to CF card using card reader it gives error popup but file is copied to CF card. Why is the error pop-up coming?

2. When I double click on the movie.avi file in my Dell Axim x50v it gives an error ...cannot find application associated...!
I opened Windows Media Player but it did not show up the movie.avi file !!! What's wrong here, what am I missing ?

Thanks in advance

You may want to try out FairUse and the FairUse Walkthrough

Nothing against the method you were using. But I find this to be much eaiser and produce results with a size you tell it to be.

Also get BetaPlayer you will need this to watch the movies on your Axim.

Good Luck and Enjoy the Movie!

You don't need Betaplayer to watch movies on the Axim. In fact, Betaplayer can't play videos encoded with Windows Media Encoder.

I used DVD2Pocket PC to copy my Spiderman 2 for a recent trip. It wouldn't play in Betaplayer, only Windows Media Player. It worked out great.

Your right. BetaPlayer does not play windows media player file like you create with windows media encoder. But it does play everything else. And in my opinion does a better job then any other player I have used. So I guess I should have said ~ You don't need BetaPlayer, you WANT BetaPlayer.

Just a guess, try creating a "My Documents" folder on your storage card, and moving the file to there. If it exists, be sure to delete a file called "ignore_my_docs" which may reside in the root of your storage card.

1. Your card probably has error. Reformat it.

2. I really miss being able to play wmv in Betaplayer. Hope they can fix this soon.
