Try another app. They got money out of a lot of us and then wanted half price to upgrade. Welcome to the sucker list. I'm on it too.

Try the 5 day free trial of this software http://www.pocketdvd.ca/ and then it only cost 12.00 if you decide to buy it and try and get a refund for the one you just paid 30.00 for.

FairUse FairUse FairUse and you get get the walkthrough HERE I don't mean to sound like a broken record every time something like this comes up, but for real. It is free and works every time. :approve:

Good Luck!

Well Adam FairUse is alright for some people but it does not work every time. Plus it takes like 2-3 hrs. to convert a DVD to a PPC friendly video if it works. I can take the same DVD and do it in less than an hour with 2 clicks of a mouse with this App. http://www.pocketdvd.ca/ I wish you would give it a try, you will be amazed. It has a 5 day free trial so why not give it a shot? Plus if it works for you it only cost $11.95 after the 5 day free trial.

Two hours might be a little on the long side. I would say closer to 45min - 1 hour. I have done several this week already. But in anycase, none of them are REAL fast. My main point was it is EASY, FREE, and GIVES GREAT RESULTS! But, to each his own. Good luck!

Adam, Don't get me wrong I also like the free way to doing this. Thats part of the fun of the whole thing. That is what my website is all about with all the different walk through guides I have. But I was just trying to give the original poster of this thread another paid for solution being that they spent $30.00 for the highly questionable DVD to PPC software. The software I mentioned will put them all to shame and only cost $11.95 if thats the way they want to go for some people just like to buy the software and get support on top of their purchase.

Hey FlyACL,

Question I FairUse. I love it, it's easy to use, but I don't see anywhere in it that I can customize the output heighth. I play the avi's on a portable video player I have that doesn't have any strectch or resize option. So when I use FairUse to encode a widescreen DVD, the output video options that are available all have width and heights options that leave me with a wide video that's not very high - I don't see any options to chose a 320x240 output. Is there a way to do this with a widescreen dvd? Am I just missing something in FairUse? That's one advantage some of the "pay" software's have, is to be able to customize or stretch the output so a 16:9 will take up the whole screen. Thanks in advance.

You should also look into Auto Gordian Knot. It does a tremendous job, and is not very hard to configure.

http://www.autogk.me.uk/modules.php?name=Tutorial

You can set the output size to the size of your card, split the file into segments for multi cards, use AC3 sound, keep only forced subtitles, and plenty more.

It is also 100% free.

Post back and let us know what you think of PocketDVD (Canadian software) I myself think it is above all overs in its catagorie and like I said before why not try out the 5 day free trial and just give it a chance.

Unbelievable!!!

SO I tried the canadian software after downloading the divx software, but it keeps going into some DOS-like screen and stays there for EVER. SO.....I try the DVD wizard demo....works fine. great A/V. I then BUY the program and surpise surpsise!...NO FUC*&^% audi AGAIN. I think my DVD player may be the culprit. But why would the demos of 2 programs work, but the retail wont??

When that DOS box in that canadian software pops up and stays open it means it is working. Just give it some time and it will close the DOS box and then you will have your video. Hint, if you are doing a PPCDIVX from the drop down menue you select before you click on the convert button you can stop the DOS box by using these keys to check out a sample...Hold Ctrl key then press C key then reaease Ctrl key press Y key and then Enter. This will close the DOS box and then you can check out the sample before going back and doing the whole thing just to make sure its ok.

I'll Second Auto Gordian Knot. I've used it and Pocket Divxencoder they both work well but I think AK Knot gives you a bit more options and a bit better result , but truely , you can't go wrong with either and they are free. When I was starting out I too bought DVD to PPC and while it worked ok I got rid of it after they wanted me to pay for a bug fix update.
