DVD's

I have tried the fairuse program (everytime I have tried it, it tells me it can't find the dvd) I have tried the DVD to PPC program. It does take a long time to make the movie but usually after an hour it will crash my putor. I will try again and before it gets to the encoding part crash. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. I have and X50 mid. running XP pro at home.

Thanks
JeffO

JeffO, I've had a similar problem with FairUse, but it happens very rarely. Usually, if I eject the DVD and re insert it, all goes well. You might check out the FairUse Support forums (they're all the way down near the bottom of that page).

That happened with only one DVD for me.

It was "The Great Outdoors." I tried numerous times.

Every other DVD worked fine. Go figure.

Have you considered it might be a physical flaw in the DVD, or has this happened with various DVDs?

Ok, I went to the fairuse forums but didn't find what I needed. I downloaded Xvid. Now what do you do with it? How do you use it with Fairuse? I am lost. I tried to convert Bourne Supremacy. and I will try a few others. I am not having any luck. I have had problems with DVD to PPC also. If I find a program I can use I will buy it. Please help.

All you need to do in install the Xvid and DviX codecs for fair use to be able to use them. No other steps are needed in order to get fairuse to use these codecs.

As far as your problem I don't know. I have never had a problem with any DVD using fairuse. What operating system are you using?

I am using XP pro. I did finally get Fairuse to start converting a movie. I shall see how it goes. I thank you all. I really appreciate this.

I just downloaded Betaplayer, When I get this movie completed I will install it. I have been using MS Player 9 and see that the reviews say to use Betaplayer it is much better. I hope all this gets me straightened out. Looks like this will be fun once I get it going.

This is what I would use...update all your codecs at once.
