Betaplayer will not use microdrive buffer

I have encoded a video using FairUse to Xvid w/ ogg audio, resulting in a 700MB .ogm file which I have placed on a Hitachi 4GB microdrive (the video is 102 minutes). Betaplayer is having a hard time with it on my X50v. It will play the video for a while, and then stop with the swirling circle. The only thing I can figure is that betaplayer is not using the microdrive buffer. Before I start Betaplayer I have 13MB of memory in use, and while the movie is playing there is 23MB of memory in use, meaning betaplayer is using no more than 10MB of memory even though I told betaplayer to use a 14MB microdrive buffer. If I listen to the microdrive while the video is playing, but before it freezes, I can hear the drive rev up every 23 seconds, which is the size of my normal buffer, not the microdrive buffer. I've tried disabling my microdrive buffer and making my normal buffer larger, but it doesn't change anything (not even betaplayer's memory usage). I'm using betaplayer v0.5. Any ideas?
