Don't forget what your oriningal source is. I have encoded downloaded movies at 1.5 mps about 700megs and they don't look as good as 450meg xvid 500kps from original DVDs using AutoGK.

As for the original question, I have a x50 mid and the picture quality is great! No problems at all. My movies are usually around 380 mb.
lol, I likely do. People seem to have the impression that the lower / older models are somehow hundreds cheaper. I see that all the time. The truth is, unless you're in a really really tight budget. the x50v really is a better buy for most people - especially given that the same people asking also want to play games and movies.

I would get the X50v if i had the money, current prices:

X30H: £215
X50V: £340

So that I can just buy the X30H I have to get a loan from my parents and it was really hard to convince them just to give me a £215 Loan.

Ebay however, seem to have some nice x50v deals

TBH Im still undecided.

Playing 320x240 videos on the x50v looks better than on the x30h since the hardware decoder chip also applies full screen smoothing to the image so overall looks less blocky, even with the lower resolution source file..
