How to record TV show then transfer to PPC

I am sorry I am very new at this but I would love to get a complete instruction on how to record a tv show off Directtv and then transfer it to X50V for viewing. What is the hardware necessary? What is the software necessary? Once these are done, what are the detail steps to initiate the transfer?

Waiting anxiously for some expert advices. Many thanks to each and everyone.

Well quan, first thing you need is a TV Tuner in your PC such as a ATI TV Wonder or a Hauppauge WinTV. It is wrather easy to record to your hard drive these days and have a video ready to tranfer to your Pocket PC as is. Just depends on how much space you have on your memory card in your PPC. But if there is a need to convert your videos to make them smaller I would recommend DIVX conversion. You can check out my Step by Step guides with pictures to guide you through each step. Just click My Encoding Guides link in my Sig.
