Tips on wmp10 and album art, etc.
I haven't been on this site in a while, but since my X5 screen smashed I was forced to get an X30-high. Yay!
Was having problems getting album art to display in WMP10... looked on this site but couldn't find the answers I needed.
Microsoft's help says you need to sync music directly between WMP (desktop) and your Pocket PC (connected via ActiveSync). This sucks for those of us with fast USB2 card readers, because ActiveSync file transfer is slow.
FIX: put your storage card in your PDA, dock it, and use WMP (desktop) to sync a little bit of music. This allows some hidden config files to be dumped into the card's root directory, indicating that (woohoo) this is a WMP10-enabled PPC, and album art should be transfered. Once sync is complete, remove card and use in your card reader... the same config files are still there, and so album art will continue to be included with future fast syncs!
In my personal case, I saw the album art (in the form of hidden JPGs) going onto the SD card (one in each album directory), but it would not show up in WMP-mobile.
FIX: manually rename one of the JPGs to "Folder.jpg" and then re-scan the library of your WMP-mobile. Now all album art gets displayed (for some reason) - even the ones default named with random letters and numbers (a-la-registry gibberish).
Of course, I'm assuming that at this stage you're using WMP10 on the desktop, and have been doing "update album info" in your media library to grab all the album art online... anybody else have odd success stories to share?
