Fairuse question

I have transferred the movie to my PPC using networking instead of SD card. How long should it take to copy the movie to my storage card???Right now it looks like its going to be awhile.

For large files, a card reader is the way to go.

Well I am using the program fairuse, and not knowing to much about this I just thought that I should include that detail in my question. How big is it?? I set the MB at 220. All i fiqured was that the transfer via WiFi wouldn't be that long...but is was , so I'm just asking if this is normal or not.

Okay I follow you but it sounds more like a Wireless Communications forum question to me. I think the answer would depend on what Hardware you're using but that's just a quess. I now bumpkus about WiFi except thank god it's automatic with the WM2003SE OS.

\\Your probably right about where it is supposed to be posted, but, if you go to that forum you will see very little activity there and most of the "replies" is 0. I have found this forum the best to read and get answers.

Yeah...don't transfer 200MB files via wi-fi or cradle/usb to your Axim unless you truly have to. Invest in an external card reader. It's much faster, and you'll be happier.

It's not a matter of discussion with FairUse, because (as Jpmarth recently reminded me), FairUse isn't actually designed for the PPC...we've just taken it and run with it because it is so great!

Good luck!

Thanks. I ordered a card reader last week but I just thought I would try it this way and see. But, yes its way to slow and I'll have to patiently wait for the card reader. One last question...if I set my MB limit at 250 for a movie..do you know if thats the exact amount thats used..I ask this because my DVD recorder from satelite uses quite a bit more disk when it goes back to reset the recording,. I also ask this because I want to know if I had only 250MB left on a card and I set limit at 250MB, would it fit. I know it sounds like a stupid question, but could save me time.

If you tell FairUse to do a movie at 250 MB it will be 250MB.

Don't let that mean if you have a 256MB card and make a 256MB movie that it will fit. Sometimes there are hidden files on the card that take up a little space.
