Pocket PC and music server, is this possible
I'm not sure if this is in the correct forum, but I do remember someone talking about this kind of setup.

I built a music server. The music server is integrated into my home sound system.

I have a pocket PC. Dell Axim X30I

First thing I want to do is control the music that is played on the music server via my pocket PC. Not play the music on my Pocket PC, I want to music to play on my home sound system.

I do have remote desktop which can do this but I am looking for a better solution because.

I have a receiver that can output sound to multiple zones. The soundcard on the music server can output audio via multiple outputs (audiophile2496).

This is the senario

3 rooms.
1 room is where the music server is located, swo a pocket pc would not be needed in this room.

Room 2 contains speakers connected to the same receiver as the music server but a seperate audio output.

Room 3 same as room 2
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Room 1 plays a song

Room 2 plays a different song at the same time as room 1 (doing this via a pocketPC in a client server type of relationship. The music is playing on the audio speakers located in the room.

Room 3 does the same as room 2 but a different song.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 different songs playing at the same time to three different outputs.

2 pocket PCs communicating with the music server in a client server relationship. The idea is a person with a pocket pc would be looking at a list of music located on the server, be able to scroll through the music, and tell it to play a certain song.

Both pocket pc's and the person controlling the music at the actual music server, would be able to do this simutaneously. Play 3 different songs simultaneous to 3 different outputs.

Thanks for all your reading and input to this thread

If the PC Player is choosable for each room you can do it I would think. If only one PC player is sending to both rooms it probably won't. Her's a link to some PC Player Remote Media Controller software to get you started.

Definltely post back with your results.

RemoteAmp is a nice little program that will control winamp or itunes.
not the exact solution i'm looking for either.

Meedio with housebot (i think) has possibilities, but I haven't tried it yet.
