Most here use this to watch video. You can instal to a compact flash or SD card. Encode the video first with PocketDivXEncoder then transfer it to your sd or compact flash card.

Hey I just turned 15 in january. First I would recommend getting beta palyer. http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/
Go to active sync, and click explore. If you have a cf or sd card click on my device, then sd or cf card. I would really recommend getting a card reader because it takes over 45min to transfer a 250mb movie. If you don't have betaplayer make sure the video is in Windows media format. (wmv, wma) If you do decide to use betaplayer you can compress video with various programs to the divx or xvid codec. I use virtualdub mostly, but most people on this site use pocket divx encoder.
I know you asked how to just move video to your axim but here is an extra link that you might find helpful for converting dvd to ppc.

Check out FairUse Wizard. Great program for converting DVD to avi. Then use the above mentioned BetaPlayer to play it on your Axim.

If you have a 256 card then I would recomend encoding the video to the size of 230mb since the software will let you choose the final size.

In addition to the other posts, you can download Windows Media Encoder 9 from Microsoft (free), and re encode your video into WMV to play in Windows Media Player 10 on the X50v.

What kind of video (format) and size are you looking at playing? If you are talking about small clips or have a large memory card you can just copy them over. I was reformatting them but have 1gb card and 700meg divx movies play fine on the x50v with beta player. Or use Windows Media Player desktop and use the sync option to reformat to WMV and will copy them over. Quality is good but copy is slow.

For whole dvds I use Auto GK. Excellent encoding superb quality but takes a long time. If you are new to video work your way upto this program as it has so many options it can be over powering. Have done multiple encodings of same movie to learn. Watching LOTR Two Towers (3hrs)right now 700megs 60kps Audio 4:3 morph (to fill the screen more), forced sub-titles (for elfish parts) and have near dvd quality video, sound is a bit thin but out of the axim speaker it is fine. Running at power save 203mhz with only slight stalls. Looks like the standard battery will last the whole 3hrs.

I use my x50v to watch movies at work constantly =P. And its very simple I jsut use the active sync software that coems with the axim and move the movie to my sd card. And with Betaplayer it jsut runs fine.

I have a hard time watching .ogg movies on my pc but with betaplayer it runs great on my pda.

OH MY! Windows Media Encode? Using Activesync to transfer large files? :headshake

For encoding, WME is horrible. The quality of compression is not good. I HIGHLY recomend you switch to avi format to see what good videos can look like on your Axim.

If you are using active stink to transfer large files to you SD cards then you must have a great deal of time on your hands. Invest $20 for a USB card reader and you will not regret it.

I have a quicktime format movie im trying to play on my PDA. It plays only the sound in betaplayer but no video. WME is not valid to play this file. It says "Player: Video codec (Sorenson Video 3, SVQ3) not found! Try checking the homepage for additional codec plugins." What do I do?

Have you tried Googling for Quicktime players for Pocket PC? They might work better.

PictPocket Cinema can play it without conversion, Quicktime Pro can convert it to a format that will play in Betaplayer, or Windows Media Encoder will convert it if you install QuickTime Alternative first.

recoding video means loosing quality. Best to find a player for the format you already have or start over and rip the dvd again.
