Worried fairuse bug!!!

No not that kind of bug, the program still works great.

The kind of "Bug"/logo you see on your local TV News usually in the lower right-hand corner. It's small but if you want to get rid of it you have to buy the program. I can't in good conscience call it freeware anymore. I'll still recommend it to anyone who's interested but it's just not the same.

When we first started talking about the dvd ripper fairuse at Aximsite, the lite version you could download did not watermark your encodes, you were just limited to 700MB top file size. Now encoding with the lite version watermarks the file. I'll try to post a screen shot comparison later.

Update: My Resco Screencapture and BetaPlayer don't get along. I won't be able to do a capture comparison unless I use my PC. Aside from print screen how do you do a screen capture on a PC?

The way I do it is use microsoft remote display control with my X50v connected and then use ScreenPrint32 v3.5. It will prompt to capture the current open window and then select to save it to a disk, not print.

Thats how I do it at least...

Intersting, I use it all the time and don't have a watermark on my movies. Wait! I just checked the site and we are up to version 1.1 now. So I guess that is something they added. Is is big? Do you know what other changes were included in version 1.1? Thanks~

Adam

*edit*

I see now on their FAQ it says ~

What is the difference between the Light Edition and the Full Edition of FairUse Wizard ?
The only difference is that the Full Edition does not display the logo.

It's tiny but it's there. Nowhere near as big as some of the ones I've seen when watchng network television movies.

Hummmm.... I see also on the history page of their site it says what they added in ver 1.1. One of the things listed is "- 4/3 auto-crop feature (very useful on handheld devices)" Anyone had a chance to check it out. See if it is worth the upgrade?

I've got a session ready I'll try it out now. Give me about 10 minutes.

Update: Looks like it's called Anamorphic Mode on the screen where you get to choose the resolution. I was given a 640X480 choice instead of 640X352.

I'll second that on ScreenPrint32 v3.5 for capturing images on your PC. Get us a screen shot Bobby...

The 4/3 autocrop feature is located on the screen where you can crop the image manually. I didn't go back that far.

Oh well someone else can test that I'm moving on to try to get the elusive screenshots.

I keep getting a purple rectangle when I try to capture from a running xvid rip. So just take my word okay, There's a Bug/Logo/Watermark on your files with the new light version of fairuse.

Try this program. I use it to capture my screen shots on my desktop, then convert them to png for posting. Hope you like it. :)

OK, so it is impossible to get a screen shot of BetaPlayer actually showing the movie. Belevie me! Anyway, as to the new 4/3 feature in FairUse I did a movie twice, once with the 4/3 option and one without. The movie was the widescreen version of Garden State done at 400mb. I also used the "recomeded" output video size for both.

Regular widescreen version
360x296 - Recomended output video size
.190 Bits/Pixel
126:1 on the compression

4/3 option
520x216 - Recomended output video size
.180 Bits/Pixel
133:1 on the compression

So what does all that mean. All it does it crop the movie down to a 4/3 "window". So if I watch both movies the widescreen one still looks better. Not as in quality but as in I can see what I am suposed to be seeing. The 4/3 version did fill the screen (some black bars on the sides) but would cut people in half.

So I will be sticking with the normal way for now. Someday I will get this widescreen stuff figured out.
