Subtitles on .avi files

Is there any player out there that can utilize the .srt file while playing a movie? They are seperate files that display subtitles in movies. I don't think BetaPlayer supports it yet...Is there any other video players that do support it though?

Nopers.

I'm deaf and I've looked high and low. There was one, but it was so mediocre and limited to QVGA such that it crashes the x50v. Betaplayer or TCMPDIWXND, whatever is your best bet.

I've also looked for this, with no success. I think the only way to really do it is to re-encode your movie with the subtitles in the AVI movie, as part of the image. I'm guessing this would get annoying though, and I doubt the text would be very clear.

I've had good experience using VirtualDub and the TextSub plugin, but it still entails re-encoding which as you know, takes time.

Definitely not a dump to CF card and play affair for the deaf or foreign film connoisseurs.
