I have been downloading mp3 and wma files for windows media player, but lately the player will just stop and lock up. The screen will then say it has performed the dreaded illegal function.

I thought I could remove and reinstall the program but it does not show up in the remove program file.

This is an Axim X5 with PC windows 2000.

The media player is part of the OS, try Betaplayer just to see if it will play the files, sometimes files are corrupt and can fubar the program they are running in.
