Have any of you tried the new Yahoo! Music Unlimited Beta that was announced last night? http://music.yahoo.com/unlimited/
It is a less expensive version of Napster to Go or Rhapsody from Real, and is totally compatible with the x50 and x50v! http://www.playsforsure.com/Advanced...scription=true
It works great! $4.99/mo gets you unlimited downloads to play on your Axim x50 and x50v for as long as you have your subscription. :approve:
Will the music files automatically sync with the Axim or does that need to be done manually?
Yes, but it takes a bit of getting used to. The biggest issue is setting it so it doesn't sync automatically to BIS as it would fill it up really fast. I sync mine to an SD or CF card with no problems. It has to be done through the Axim though and not through a card reader. I also found it easy to download the files and then use WMP10 on my PC to sync to the Axim.

Will this work with the x30? Anyone know? This looks really cool
It will only work for those PDA's with WMP Mobile 10 installed to decode the WMA DRM. I have an x50v so I don't know if the x30 has WMP10.

do you have to pay for individual songs as well as the subscription? or does it include downloads?
If you want to play them on your PC or your Axim or any compatible player than you only pay the subscription fee. If you want to be able to burn them to CD you will have to pay per track. But the price per track is only $0.79 which is cheaper than all the other online music stores out there. (the 79 cents per track is only if you also subscribe to YMU, otherwise it's still 99 cents).
Looks interesting and the price is actually decent..
Anybody know how many device we can use one subscription on? I tried looking on the yahoo page but couldn't find the info without actually signing up. Ideally, I would want to listen to the music on my desktop, laptop, axim and maybe a compatible smartphone in the future...
edit: Looks like I can use it on any pc (presumably streaming). I wonder how many portable device I can use with one subscription?
I have used my one account to download and sync on two different Axim x50v's, mine and my wifes, as well as syncing with our Dell Pocket DJ. I had to update the firmware on the Pocket DJ first in order to play subscription based files. The firmware update is on the Dell website.
Been a faithful Napster subscriber.... until now. I've been dying to have Napster-to-Go work with my X30, well looks like they waited too long. Now that I can transfer whatever music I want to my X30 with Yahoo, at a cheaper price than Napster, I'm happy.
Just transfered a few files over to test with. Insteresting thing... it won't transfer music via wifi activesync, but it will docked in the cradle. BEsides wifi activesync, other thing I'll have to learn to live with is WMP10. I've been using PocketMusic and SoundExplorer for my portable listening needs, but I think I can learn to live with WMP10.
u guys can go ahead and sign up. il wait for the response, considering its still beta. so there will be a lot of problems for sure in the first 6 months. :rolling:

I never understood the subscription plan. I want to own my songs, not keep leeching out money for the right to play them. Then again, I can buy songs at $.10 each, which is why I don't buy from iTunes anymore.

I know what you mean. However, at $5 a month for "all you can eat" is a great deal IMO. You can't even buy (new) 1 cd at that price. Car leasing makes no sense to me.... yet millions lease.
Its just a different that what most people are use to procuring their music. Some like it... some dont.
