Streaming BBC

Why is it that I can stream BBC worldservice with helix real player on Symbian OS and not realone player on my Axim? Is realone really inferior to the open-source helix project?

I am able to listen to BBC but I have to use the standalone Realplayer option on BBC's page. Have you tried this?

World service is one of the easier streams to get on the ppc. You don't even need realplayer.

Just go to
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/netwo.../wmp.shtml?6hi
or
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/netwo.../wmp.shtml?6lo
in PIE and click the
'Listen using stand-alone Windows Media Player' link

The direct link is
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/me...news_au_nb.asx

If you would like to use Realplayer then you can either use file/open location and insert
rtsp://rmlivev8.bbc.net.uk/farm/*/ev7/live24/worldservice/liveinfent.ra

or
File/open file and open the attatched .ram file.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

Not a problem, I'm glad that you found it of use. There are a few ways to work out the link to the streams too. So if there is a program that you can't find a direct link to I can try to explain how to find it.

Sorry, I have been away. For some reasons I am unable to stream BBC. I used to be able to do it but then one day, it just stops! I am connected to the net via BT with N6600. Each time I tried to stream using RealPlayer, it says "unable to connect to site". If I use WM, it says "unable to connect at this moment". I am sure I am connected to the web cos I can surf. Some sites can be streamed without any problem. Just do not know why - maybe my settings?
