Playing Protected Music files via my Wireless Network

I am stumped and maybe someone can help me. I have set up my wireless network so that I can play my PC's music files on my AXIM. I recently purchased some music (WMA format) and these files will not play over my network . . . these are license protected files. . All other unprotected files are playing just fine on Windows Media Player Mobile. I think it may have something to due with the digital rights licensing. Does anyone know if I need to copy the digital licenses to my Axim for this to work? If so what folder do I need to place the files in? HELP!!

What method are you using to play them over the network? Are you streaming them? Or just opening them from a share?

In that case your Axim would not be authorized for them.

You can use WMP to transfer them to the Axim (takes up space obviously) or you could open them in WMP on the PC and then stream them to the PPC via Windows Media Encoder or some other streaming application.

hmm too bad. Seems strange that you can't do what you want with files when you pay for them. Any idea if windows mobile 5.0 will change how it handles protected files? I like to be able to use my ax like a wireless media player, but if the protected files won't play via a share it seems like a big loss.

can't move the license file to the ax and do it that way?

To licence the files on the Axim I believe you have to use WMP to transfer them over.

I wonder if you could use WMP to transfer them over, explorer to erase them and then try and open them over the share. I don't know enough about their DRM to know if that would work or not. I doubt it, but it's worth a shot.

Burn the files to an audio CD, rip them to MP3, then play them on anything.
