Fair Use question...

I know this really isn't an Axim question, but would a DVD player capable of playing the DVIX format play DVD's (or CD's, for that matter)that I've ripped with Fair Use Wizard? Would it play XVID?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Yes it would! More players have Divx than Xvid though.

Yeah, you can find more information about DVD players and what format they play. Just go to http://www.videohelp.com

I found a DVD player that plays DiVX and I think it was a Philips for $80. I think some of the DVD players you are looking for LG DVD-8742X and Pioneer DV-588A-S. You can even use the search field to enter what types of formats you want on a DVD player and it will provide results. Good site

Yeah, alot depends on the player and what kind if media you are using as well. DVD + - or CDR. Give it a try and see. The link above has some real good info. Here is another one if you are intersted. http://bigdsvideo.tripod.com/index.html has some good stuff for both PPC movies and backup DVDs.

To find out the playback capabilities of a hardware player the best source of information is this thread over at doom9.org. Most current players are listed by chipset along with results from various playback tests. XviD should be no problem for most hardware players as long as you dont use Qpel or GMC unless you know for sure that your player supports them.

Thanks for the great tips. That videohelp.com site is awesome, why didn't I know about it before?
I went to both Best Buy and Circuit City and, here's a shocker, only one person had a clue as to what DIVX or XVID is, and all I got when I mentioned Fair Use Wizard was a "deer in the headlights" stare. Thank God for the Internet! :approve:

Thats cuz FairUse is free and they are there to sell you stuff. I agree with the "Thank God for the Internet" part. Funny how I have software that was free and does a better job the some of the stuff my buddy buys for big $$.
