Add more audio features to BetaPlayer?

BetaPlayer is by far my favorite, and most used, pocketpc app. But, I find myself using gsplayer for MP3s and shoutcast even though BP can do the same. I guess I just like the display better, knowing what you are listening to, being able to view playlists, etc.

Is there any interest, or any plans, to further develop Betaplayer for audio? Having the milkdrop visualization put in would be killer, but I'm sure that would take a lot of development. I would be happy to just see the song info.

That's a tough question. I'm sure many of us could post a wishlist. The fact is, when you have such an awesome app that's also a freebie, it's hard to get too greedy.

I just wish it can support the AMR codec since it can watch my video downloaded from the Nokia phone (*.3gp) but it has no sound ...

I know it's me because so many people rave about this app but I just can not get it to run. I've tried to play the same videos that do play on WMP and they don't go. I'm probably confused about codecs etc. But the fact that it wouldn't play basic videos kinda lost me.

All of the things mentioned plus a whole lot more have already been requested on the Betaplayer forum. There have been no major improvements to the PPC version of BP because Picard is currently working on the PalmOS version (plus holding down a real job at the same time) which is now ahead in terms of features. Once both versions have reached 1.0 (at which point the name will change to The Core Pocket Media Player) the feature set will be identical and presumably they will be updated in parallel.

With regard to AMR audio support, it is already requested and is working on the PalmOS version so it will not be much longer until it appears for PPC. This is clearly an important feature for Smartphone users so rest assured it will be added.

JohnDaddyo: The same could be said about WMPs inability to play anything but Windows Media files (MP3 being the only exception), personally I can't see the point in Betaplayer supporting a format that everyone already has a player for already. Also bear in mind that WM support worked fine until Microsoft changed the programming interface rendering BP's playback broken.
