Found a perfect (almost) one step DVD > PPC conversion app....
After months of fooling around with various open source apps I've now found the perfect solution for going from DVD to my Axim:
http://www.dvdxsoftware.com/ I was able to select the track, save it, then encode it for my VGA device. They even have a version that can encode to my smartphone ![]() When you try and open an encrypted DVD it tells you it can't do that. And then tells you how you CAN do it, with a free package ![]()

Looks good. I like the free FairUse way myself. Thanks for the heads up.

What a curious coincidence, DVDXSoftware sounds very similar to DVDx - a free DVD backup package that's been around for several years.
EDIT: It was not my intention to imply that there was any funny business going on I was merely pointing out the coincidental naming. For the record there was also a commercial package called DVDXCopy by 321 Studios.

Anyone tried ratDVD?
Supposedly includes all the Extras together with the movie in one file, but I think it uses a proprietary format so may not playback on the Ax.

So many programs, not enough ROM

I am sure that dvdx (pay version) and dvdx (free are NOT the same)
I heard what alot of companies do these days are stealing free souce code, changing the GUI and selling it for huge amounts of money. I think I'll stick to ripping with dvd dycryptor and compressing with vdub.

I used to use DVDx (the free one) all the time, but then found that I was getting better quality for my archival purposes using a manual setup of several programs.
However, for PPC encoding, it's working excellently. Put the disc in, run it, and you're good to go.
