How long does pocket divx encoder take to render a 640x480 1.5hr movie at quality level 12? It ran through pass 1 and 2 in a pretty short time (less than an hour) and the little menu says zero seconds remaining, and that its done, but the file is only like 30 megs, not 250 as it is supposed to be. ANd it just seems like it went to quick. And my task manager is showing a prgram called mencode that is taking 32megs of space and 99% of my cpu time...is it possible that it is still rendering the final product, and that it just doesn't make this clear?

The speed will have more to do with your computer then the program. With 1GB of RAM using FairUse (the best way)I do a 2 hour movie in about 1-1:15. But in your case if it quit after 30 megs something else is going on. Good Luck~

Actually are you sure that you put the quality at 640x480? That doesn't sound right, usually that option allows you to put the quality of the video up to like 200, instead of just 12. If you picked 320x240, then 12 is almost the highest quality possible that you can pick with that resolution. Try it again, and try picking "VGA". When using "VGA" option and a 22 minute video, it's like 7-10 minutes to re-encode. I have a Athlon 1600+ "Palomino" Core, with 256MB DDR 266MHz RAM, but can't wait to build my new computer with Pentium D 830!!
