Maybe I'm not as smart as I think I am?
What the heck am I doing wrong? When I start PocketDivX and enter the file to encode, click on direct encoding, the encoding in progress window opens and that's it. It sits at 0% progress and there is no CPU load.
I'm running xpPro, 1.8 ghz, 1 gig ram. I would expect it would work faster.
Any ideas would be appreciated. I'm going to try fairuse now.

How long did you let it run for? I have had times where it suddenly jumps to 10 or 20 percent. Try starting the encoding process before you go to bed and letting it run. You should have a complete movie when you wake up.

Have you tried Fairuse Wizard? Great program for encoding.

This thing was notoriously buggy and has not been updated in almost a year.
Try fairuse or one of the many multi-step processes that use a number of different free apps.

This program works great for me I have no problems encoding 3-4 gig movies down to 250 megs in about 40 minutes. I have never used the direct encoding feature. I add to the list then Encode All. In my opinion it is the easiest program to use.
