Question GSPlayer - Playlist - What am I missing???

Hi.

I know from reading the forums that many of you use the GSPlayer. In fact, I first heard of it here.

Downloaded, installed, all went well. Here is my question. For the life of me I cannot figure out the Playlist. When the player is open and I tap on Tool/Playlist..., I only get the current playlist. Am I not supposed to get a listing of all Playlists (.m3u files) and be able to choose from the list? If not, I fail to see the purpose of the Playlist item on the Tool menu. Is there no way to easily bring up a list of Playlists to choose from? The only way I've found is to tap on File. Then tap on Open File..., and then go to Type, scroll down to Playlist files and choose my playlist from the resulting list. There has to be an easier way.

I know I'm doing something wrong. Can anyone help me with this?

I have the same question. I just really began playing with GSPlayer today, and found this to be the only way to open a playlist. There has got to be an easier way.

Nope.. that's it.. kind of difficult.. another issue I have is that even though the playlist file type is setup to open with GSplayer by default.. when i click on it from the file browser.. it opens GSplayer but nothing else happens.. I'm sure this is a bug..

I agree that things could be a bit easier (like a playlist button on the main screen that just shows playlists).. but I like the program for its small footprint and skinning ability. Oh.. and its free and in VGA!

Thanks for the help. Any other suggestions for an alternative app?

Well.. its a hard choice... I really like GSPlayer so I continue to use it.. mainly because I can listen to streamed music from it.

The other players that I've tried all have issues too... but Mortplayer gets a lot of play on these forums and looks ok too. I've tried pocket player, PocketMusic and a few others.. but kept coming back to gsplayer.

iPlay C/S is supposed to be amazing.. but it costs big $$$ and is hard to understand (both from the site webpage and from the software).

I just wish this thing was written in VB so I could totally fix some of the issues.. but this mobile C stuff is very difficult.. and the source code comes with like 6 versions and no details on which one is for the PPC.. frustrating!

Maybe you can try to go to /File/Open File.../ and then in the file type select Playlist Files... if your in the right folder it should list all your playlists.

Thanks. I switched to the PocketPlayer and am having much better luck. If anyone knows of problems with that app, I'd be very interested.

I have been using GSPlayer fo rabout a year now and never had any of the problems you are talking about. When I start it it load my playlist and display the songs on the screen. If you go to File > Open File... it allows you to open the playlist that you want. If you make changes to the playlist you must save it (File > Save Playlist...) Ask more questions and I wll try to help.

frenchy,
In an other post I asked if there is a way to map a second set of functions for the side buttons beyond what a tap would perform for instance.
my settings now are: up is volume up and down is volume down but what I would like to do is be able to go to the next or previous songs as well by HOLDING these buttons and still maintain the volume functionality.
in the other thread someone said that it was possible to alter the source to allow this... do you or someone else know how to do this?

I am not clear about your question as I do not have side button on the X50. Are you talking about the X30? What side button? what are these side buttons do normally when pressed. Give me the answers above and I will investigate this for you. :approve:
