I'm reluctant to share it publicly (with a download link) because like you said, it's not my creation and the edits I made were strictly for my own personal use. However, if you PM me your email address, I'll send it to you.

Glad you shared your opinion. It just reinforces the fact that everyone has different needs, and most of these needs are taken care of by five audio/mp3 players: GSPlayer, MortPlayer, PocketMusic, 40iPlay, and BetaPlayer. There are a few others, but those five seem to be the most popular judging by the amount of mentions that they receive here at this forum.

Right now, MortPlayer is doing the job for me. If it gets to the point where it's not meeting my needs (like two of the other players that I've tried), then I'll try something else.

Well, I must admit I was a bit lazy regarding MortPlayer recently...
Anyway, if you want to, you can try the current beta.
The download contains only the PPC exe and an optional PlugIn directory, which you'll have to copy directly to your MortPlayer folder on your "Mobile device" in the explorer.
I had some problems with hangups during startup in the recent betas. It seems to be fixed now, but I think it's a good idea to make a backup of the original MortPlayer.exe just in case...

Changes:
- Some bugfixes regarding ID3v2
- Album art is also used if it's saved as "other image" instead of "cover image" or image/jpg (id3.org just mentions image/jpeg)
- Supports GSPlayer plug-ins (configuration in playback settings)
- Selectable paths to plug-ins, Skins, and favorites (files must be copied manually, esp. the Skins)
- Close message can be ignored (useful when running with low memory, option in program exit)
- Faster on some occations

Just to add to this converation, what (aside from not playing Ogg) is it about WMP that keeps it from being your player of choice?
1. Takes up no RAM
2. Syncs nicely with Windows workstations
3. Intuitive and clean interface
4. Skins that work nicely when in the car (i.e. big buttons).

I've loaded just about every player, but I keep coming back to WMP. The only feature that it's desperately missing for me is the ability to bookmark.
Thoughts?

But it does turn the screen off. I do it every day.
True no main screen playlist. Never been an issue for me... especially since I most often listen with the screen turned off.
Buggy how? I've never really encountered any glitches with it.
