Same here. I'm hoping my problems were due to a large format being shrunk down, so I'm going to try recording a few clips at lower resolution to see if that helps. Media player sucks anyway, so it's probably partly MS junk again. Have you ever tried to just listen to a simple audio cd on your desktop w/ WMP 9? Don't bother. I use CD player and get much better sound.
My axim media player keeps cutting off the sound output while playing mp3s, like it's choking on the high bit rate. Trying to close the app it tells me it's not responding. Once again, I'll try recording some stuff at 64 kb/s (instead of the 128 - 192 kb/s files I now have) to see if that helps.
Has anyone figured this stuff out yet?
I really need some advice.

I haven't had any problems playing avi files or mp3s.
I'm currently using PocketMVP which is the new PocketDivx player.
I was able to watch a Matrix Reloaded teaser and it played fine. No jerky motion and audio was fine. The teaser I think was 2 megs, 3 and a half minutes long.
I also listened to my mp3 recorded at 128kbps and again no problem.
My Axim is the 300mhz.

I have the 400mhz version and video's work great! I am using pocketMVP .8m as the player. I encode my videos with Divx 5 codec at 200 kilobit/second output (2passes) with 32 kBit/s, 22,050 Hz, mono sound. Ohhh make sure you rotate the video also. It takes some of the stress off the processor if you pre rotate. Pocketmatrix http://www.poketmatrix.com has a guide that is where I started and works great. Let me know if anyone still needs help.

PS: I play my videos from a 256mb SD Sandisk.

SMOOTH VIDEO FILES

I had the same problem as you i was devistated because 75% of my axim useage i wanted to watch episodes/movies!!!! It sucked when it would be choppy and slow so here is what will work, to some it may look like a lot of work but its pretty easy!!!!!!

1. Get a file you want to watch
2. Download Windows media encoder 8 (there is 9 but 8 works on 98+ windows) http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...M8/encoding.asp

3. Download the Ipaq Profile http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...cket/create.asp

4. Put this downloaded profile in your installed windows media encoder folder. Should be C:\Program Files\Windows Media Components\Encoder\Profiles if it isnt in there go to start->find profile and that folder should come up... put the profile in there..

5. Time to open up windows media encoder. When it ask you what profile you want to use scroll down and find the one for
"video Ipaq (color)" or something simular to that.

When its done encoding you have your self a anti-skipping file worth watching.

That took all of five minutes to get the files and do my first clip. The best part is that it changed a 16 meg file to 1.4! The sound isn't much though.
Thanks for the tip!
