mp3 to wma

I am relatively new at the whole music deal, so I was wondering if there is any program that will switch mp3s that I have downloaded into WMAs so I can play on my Axim. I have a 512 SD card coming in the mail so I want to put music on it, but some of my songs are nearly 5mb and I would like to reduce that so I can fit more on my card. Any ideas are appreciated, thanks!

dont bother... that is crazy talk. just download Betaplayer and use it.... it is much better than WMP anyway. but, hey, doesn't WMP play mp3s? no conversion needed

Well yes it does play mp3 but that isn't my questions really. On my home computer I want to change my mp3 into WMA so that the file sizes are smaller (or any other file that makes it smaller). I won't get many songs on my card if they are so big, know what I mean?

You can use one of the features in Plus! - not shure which version - but it has ability to change whole directories.

Please note - I have experimented with various ripping sizes and although you can certinly get a lot of files encoded 64k WMA (about 1.5 meg for average song) - I found even with my lousy hearing that this is just not good enough. Minimum encoding for WMA 96k - better go with 128k - (about 3.5 meg for average song).

I'm not sure if that's worth all the bother.

Just my 2 cents

Re-encoding songs from one format to another is always extra lossy too.
