Windows Media Player bluetooth remote

Hi all,

Well ive had an axim X50v for about a week now and its done everything I want to do bar one thing...

Does anyone know an application that will let me browse my PC hard drive and then load a file into WMP on my PC and control basic functions such as stop, pause, ff, has to be able to fullscreen and unfullscreen. Then say load a different file to play.

Ive only found one application that can do this but its fairly crappy as it uses its own WMP window and doesnt run in the background very well and it can't browse network drives, a link to another drive via a folder solved the network drive problem though. So basically I want this program but to use standard WMP and to run in the background ready for loading videos.

http://www.simbolic.net/software/WMPRemote/

Its the closest ive found to what I want to do, if anyone knows about Bemused for Symbian, thats exactly what I wish to do. Bemused seems to exit when refreshing now on my Nokia 6630 :(

Ive searched handango etc and the big sites, googled to death and theres nothing good in this area, bemused is perfect and there are many programs for smart phones that do this.

Worst case, what is a good WMP control utility, ive tried about 20 of them and so far they have all been bleh. I dont want to VNC as its so slow and an application could do the specific functions much better. An application for my Symbian 6630 would also make me :) if anyone knows one.

THIS IS FOR VIDEO WATCHING ON THE PC not for mp3 playback control, I play MP3's via Foobar to my hifi and dont need to remote control it. Just to be clear, I want to control the video that is being played on my PC, like a DVD remote.

Thanks for any help :)

Try www.ppcmag.com and click on their Encyclopedia of Software link. Last time I checked there were at least 5 different apps that could do that.

Check out NetRemote Pro.

http://www.promixis.com/products.php?section=netremote

I think it will do what you want and much more. Honestly though, if you really want the ultimate control over a large music collection, you should check out moving to J River's MediaCenter in conjunction with it (or other control software). It truely makes everything else seem like a toy IMO. :)

edit:
Just saw the word Bluetooth in there. NetRemote is made to work over Wifi, but I guess you could bring up a BT network connection. (just a guess)

Both cannot load files form the hard drive, only media library, ill try the PPCMC one for control but I don't think it can fullscreen and unfullscreen whats playing.

How did I miss Video!

There's something you can do iith WMEncoder but again it's listed as a Wi-Fi app.

Try a search here for Windows Media Encoder Streaming.

Noo sorry im being confusing. Video on the PC not on the PPC.

E.G. Control the video im watching, while sitting back in my lazy chair with my PPC. The video will play back on the computer screen and I shall control it from the PPC :)

I wish I wasn't moble. Lots of apps have this function but I can't try them now.

Windows Media Player Control on your PC was one of the first things developers did IIRC. Granted I seem to recall music management was the focus at the time.

When I get back to a PC I'll find one for you. Could you post the apps you've tried so I don't look stupid?

Ive tried so many its hard to list what ive deleted, most dont work well and none can load files form the hard drive, im just loading my media into the media library and its going crazies over 20,000 items :rolling:

NetRmote - Seems ok, bit slow, cant load files from hdd, cant go fullscreen/unfullscreen on the PC. Dont think works over BT, might be able to get it to work. Screws with WMP, if you close it and have NetRemote running it will keep the song/video going, a PITA to say the least.

Rudeo Control - Horrible application, cant pause and unpause very well, cant load files from hdd.

Symbolic WMP Remote - Good app but useless as it loads its own version of WMP and doesnt sit in the background very well. But this is exactly what I want, if it used standard WMP and sat in the background correctly it would be perfect.

VNC - Stupidly slow, just want media control, not PC control

Pocket Pc Media Control - Only good for mp3s, try it, no fullscreen/unfullscreen controls. Cannot load files from hard disk.

Ive tried more but cant remember them, anyone know anything!!! sigh, people obviously dont want/need a video remote and to load files off their harddisks intead of media librarys, I can settle for an app that is good and loads from media library but nothing is good so far, net remote is ok, but bleh, also cannot fullscreen and unfullscreen so making it useless.

If you only want to control your PC why would you want to load files? Are you talking about turning off one video and playing a different one on your PC.

Exactly, e.g playing the next episode, next cd, or something totally different, eg just watching music videos and choosing them as I go.

Play simpsons, finish episode, then browse HDD for another video file to load.

http://bemused.sourceforge.net/scree...0fc352f096cc74

This is 100% what I want to do, it just crashes on my new phone though when I refresh the list.

Edit on another note I got bemused to work, possibly the greatest application for doing this ever :) but im still very interested in a PPC app.
