TCPMP (Betaplayer) Secure Digital Problem

I recently downloaded TCPMP (the newest version of Betaplayer) and I wanted to watch a movie I encoded and placed on my 512 mb secure digital card. However, when I place the movie on the secure digital card, and attempt to play it, TCPMP reports and error: "Unsupported File Type" and gives the path. At first I thought that I had corrupted the movie in transfer, so I recopied it, no luck. I also transferred the EXACT same file to my CF card and it plays FINE. My CF card is also 512 MB. The difference between the two is that for some reason, the CF card has 88.7 megs free, and is showing the file is 398.77 mb free. It is formatted as FAT. However, when I transfer the file onto SD, it shows the SAME file is using 487.51 MB, with 0.49 MB free. I have tried both FAT and FAT32 formats for the SD digital card. Why won't it play of SD? Is it an issue of free space? And why is my card only displaying wierd file sizes for the card's capacity and file size? Sidenote, under windows, it lists the file as 357 MB. Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to waste two 512 SD cards and another 1 GB on the way...

Just to be sure you can install both BetaPlayer to check if it can play the file or not.

But the 0.49MB free space is suspicious. Did you check the file size of the movie example in file explorer? My guess the SD card has some lost sectors (which could be recovered with a tool program or using the PC) and the movie was not copied fully on the card.

Yes, I can install Betaplayer, and it works fine when reading off of CF. I, too, am concerned about the 0.49 MB free. If it is lost sectors, is there anyway to repair/recover them? Or is the card useless?

Formating should fix these type of problems, but you said you already formated the card. How much free space does it show after format before coping any files on it?

Yes, I have formatted the two cards, both in Fat and Fat32. When formatting them, I have 488 MB free when they are done.

It does sound like a card issue. If you have a reader try a Scandisk/Error checking with XP before reformatting to FAT32.

HTH

@picard_beta-Should I merge this with the rename thread?

I used the Scan Disk error checking on it, and it didn't appear to have any errors. I have reformatted to Fat32. Still no success. I even made sure to "eject" the disc using windows before removing the SD card. Plugged it in, nothing. Could the problem be the card reader?
