Windows Media Player 9 on your PC will also convert files, using the Copy to CD or Device function. Quality vs size adjustment available under Tools-Options-Copy Music.

What are some of the players that will play.ogg files? What is the best way to convert mp3 to ogg?
I use winamp to convert my files
easy a hitting play on your playlist
just change the output to what
ever plugin you want...
not sure if there is an OGG
plug in or not, there is definately
a WMP plug in, i use it all the time.

I use Easy CD-DA extractor file converter. But my question is: what is the best bitrate to encode in? I have heard people speak of 20 kbps. I used 32 kbps and the higher tones all get to sound 'metallic' if you know what I mean.
I use WMP to play them, but any suggestions on a better player for wma would be welcome too.
in theory, wma files are suppose to be as good as an mp3 file at double the bit rate.
Assuming that the standard bit rate for mp3 is 128kpbs (which is the "standard" rate for preserving CD quality music, and possibily 160kpbs or higher for classical music), the equilvalent bit rate for wma files should be at 64kpbs.
IMHO, 32kpbs or lower should only be reserved for voice recordings. I know because I have a lot of voice recordings (lectures etc) which I encode using 20kpbs, sometimes even down to 16kpbs. The "metallic" sound at this lower rate for voice is detectable but bearable.
