Ok, this may be an impossible/dumb idea, but it's an idea none the less. I recently went on a long road trip and used my X50v for music the whole way. I was wondering a couple of things about hooking the X50v up to the car, but the one in particular that I am interested in is a way to control the axim remotely. Either via a cable similar to the built in control on some headphones or via some kind of remote (possibly bluetooth?) I always had the axim sitting in the center console where it is not easily accessible, especially while driving, so some kind of control would be ideal.
Also, is there any way to set the volume to a line-level type of setting or something? Or does anyone have a good set of settings that they use with X50mix and TCPMP? As it is right now I can change the volume about four different ways (main volume, heaphone booster, TCPMP, car stereo) and that can be a bit annoying and hard to configure correctly.
Sorry for such a long post, but any information in this area would certainly be helpful to me and hopefully many others. I thank you in advance for any advice that you may give. :approve:
A remote for the Media player. My Sony had that, and I really liked that feature. I've never heard of one for the PPC. Would be a great accessory!

Theres the "total remote", but that lets you change television channels and stuff....dont know if it would work with WM
No I'm trying to control the axim, not use it as a control. I want to be able to change songs and pause the axim while it is hooked up to my stereo. When it is hooked up the axim is in the center console and therefore unreachable while driving, so I need some kind of control to interface with it. Does that make sense?
I just sold my iPod mini and got a microdrive for the X50v. I really like being able to use 2-3GB for songs and still have another 2GB left over for movies and pictures, so the iPod idea is out of the question. There has to be a way to do this, there just has to be.
that looks like an interesting concept, it might work, but I'm sure that somebody would have to write a driver for the pocket pc first. Thanks for the tip and btw...
Welcome to Aximsite!
This can easily be done. The Axim has a IR port so all you have to do is use practicly any remote and the right piece of software. I think I got it to work at one point with my Axim to controll the media player. I am not thinking of any software of the top of my head but I may search for the program I used and get back.

Like I said before, The Think Outside BT Mouse is what you seek.
it's at this point the only device I know that would allow you to control device when you can't reach it. i use X50V with 6 gb MD with Rhapsody & YMU and 1gb Sd with GPS nav in a seidio cradle and use the BT mouse instead of stylus.
i too looked for remote for PPC and this is the best solution i found.
$43 at amazon and open a Amazon charge card and get $30 off instanly. $13 quite a deal.
You could do the same thing wiht a BT keyboard. Only with the keyboard you wouln't have to look at the Axim to know what you are doing. Just tap the right keys to make change songs, adjust volume, ect.
Actually with the right software you should be able to use basicly any remote control to trigger diffrent actions on the PPC. Maybe this would make a nice Open-Source project?

I thought that would work as well. I just purchased a bluetooth keyboard on Ebay because my Targus IR seems to have crapped out on me. :realmad: I knew that the mouse wouldn't work as the axim is going to be inside the center console and therefore completely unviewable. Power consumption was not a real issue though because I will have my axim constantly plugged into power via my iGo from RadioShack. I should receive the keyboard sometime this week. I'll let you all know how it goes in case anyone else has similar questions.
