if you can't find that file as, geezer has noted, go into Start->settings and tap on System Information. This will write that SysInfo file that geezer has metioned.
And if you don't like having that file, you can always delete it, but remember that if you go into your settings "system information" again, that folder and file will appear again in you "My Documents" folder.

coolhand....I am just too jealous right now....you have Back To The Future ready to load on your Axim that you don't even have yet and I'm still trying to figure out how to do this Movie Converting Brainyack stuff and I have my Axim. UGH!!
I am going on vacation this week...Thursday...and I swear by the time I go back to work, I'll have at least one flippin' movie to watch on my Axim. Yes, of course I should be working at work but, I will have earned screwing off at work just ONCE if I can get a movie on this Axim :)
And, PLEASE no one take any offense to me using the term: "brainyack"......I'm trying real hard to get to that status!!
Although, I must admit....I'm off to a slow start. I downloaded Windows Media Encoder over the weekend and, the best I could do was just stare at it!! I'm thinking about getting SmartRipper instead. (?)
actually, i have the whole set ready to go, and the 4 aliens...ive been setting the system to recompress them when im out during the day...next up is the band of brothers box set....my axe is due here tomorrow according to shipping tracking.....though i figured i would have it a couple days ago...
WONDERFUL!! I hope the movies turn out!! Back To The Future has to be one of my all time favorite movies. Marty McFly ruled! I remember seeing it at the theatre when it came out. And, I made my boyfried (at the time) take me to see it nearly every night it was playing!! I really like the first one the best....then the third one....second one would have to be last. And, you have my brother's favorite.... the Aliens series. I can still remember people screaming in the theatre during a few of those scenes. Of course, I can 'stomach' the first one but I didn't see anything past the second release of Aliens.
I have not tried movies on my Axim. I would like to. I have been capturing all my old 8mm videos using Pinnacle Studio 8, breaking them into meaningful clips and saving them as (hugh) high quality AVI files. I will eventally burn them all to DVD's.
I would love to put some on either my 256meg CF card or 256meg SD cards and have them to show with my Axim. Pinnacle has many options for rendering and creating movie files.
What would be the best settings to create movies to show with the Axim??
There are a couple of real good tutorials on this site for converting DVD's to play on the Axim...check in this forum (multimedia) at the beginning of the forum...that's one of the ways I'm going to try. I printed out the instructions but haven't tried it yet. I'm going to give it a shot later this week!!
for encoding and vcd/dvd/divx help also check out vcdhelp.com they have alot of great resources for the encoding newbie

I've played a few trailers (including the Matrix one linked above) and they look a bit 'jerky' - like its dropping frames or something. Does anyone else have a problem with this ?
Is it possible to tweak the settings to make video playback smoother ? Or does this need to be addressed during the encoding of the video ?
I was wondering if anyone has the benchmark results for the 300mhz pxa255 vs 400mhz pxa250. I looked at spb benchmark, but they only have the 400mhz pxa250 listed. I was going to run the benchmark software on my Axim, but it said you could get data loss. So I was wondering if anyone with a 300mhz pxa255 tried this yet. Knowing my luck I would install it and then have to go through the nightmare of re-installing everything on my Axim.
At the top of this thread people were raving about axim 255 300MHz. So is it true (and/or humanly possible) that the cheap Axim Basic 255 is actually BETTER than the more expensive Axim Advanced????? Someone explain this to me, I'm WAY confused...
P.S. I'm prolly gonna order my Ax in like 2 weeks (I only start work tomorrow) but this is great... if Basic's better than advanced, than f..k spending $450 and advanced i'll just buy the $150 Basic, instead!

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.
The confusing factor is that they were not raving about the PXA255 300 MHZ Axim. They were raving about the PXA255 300MHZ processor. The processor as a piece independent of the Axim system performs much better than the PXA250 400MHZ. BUT in an Axim, there are still limits that are going to reduce that performance.
A PXA255 400MHZ is still going to be better than a PXA255 300MHZ.
Picture it this way, if the inside of an Axim is the highway and a program has to move back and forth between RAM and the processor, then the processor can be a 4 lane highway(PXA250 400MHZ), a 6 lane highway(PXA255 300 MHZ), 8 lane highway(PXA255 400MHZ) and the ram bus brings it down to two lanes. No matter how fast you go on those other portions of highway all of the models are going to get slowed down to where the average speeds are fairly close.
