Problems with TCMP and AVI

I have an X30 High; I just started using the new 0.66 to view my avi movie clips that i take with my digital camera. But it is choppy [i.e. every 2 or 3 seconds, it freezes and processes to catch up]. I've tried switching sd cards, but to no avail.

Anyone having the same problem? the 0.66 works great with my divx encoded movies though!

Check out the "watching video's" thread. I had a similar problem, and it ended up being a program that was causing interference.

Have you tried copying the AVIs to RAM to see if they play okay there?

Yeah, I looked at that; but I don't have any programs installed except Avantgo and Acrobat reader.

I have noticed that it only freezes on avi files that run at 30 frames per second ("FPS"); when I take an avi that is 15 FPS, it works fine.

Darn! TCPMP/AXIM may not be able to process 30 FPS. :(

TCPMP can cetainly play 30FPS, it's probably more that your PDA can't decode the avi at that bitrate, or that it can't get the data fast enough from the SD.

Try the 0.66e version. And see if that helps.

Unfortunately, others have had this problem with digicam-recorded AVIs. Hopefully the latest version of Betaplayer will fix it.

I think that there may be a limit as to whether an AXIM X30 can process quick enough for 30 FPS.

I don't mind change as long as I'm not around when it happens.

Doesn't it work without the extra plugins?

However, the digital camera avi problem is not fixed with the 0.66e

I just download all the plug-ins. You never now when someone might want you to listen to something that WMP 4 PPC won't play. I know this doesn't help with the digicam question but Hey, I was asked. :)
