WMP10 Library Problems
Hi,

I'm sorry if this question sounds stupid... But I tried doing a search through these forums and couldn't find the answer to the question. I also had a look at the tutorials section for aximsite.

Anyway, I have a new X50v. I do not have any SD or CompactFlash cards (probably can't afford one anytime soon). I'm trying to arrange my music in the built-in storage such that WMP10 can load the music into the library when I turn on my PDA.

At the moment, the music files are structured in this type of format.

Built-In Storage
- Music
-- Album 1
--- Song 1.wma
--- Song 2.wma
--- Folder.jpg
-- Album 2
--- Song 1.wma
--- Song 2.wma
--- Song 3.wma
--- Song 4.wma
--- Folder.jpg

Anyway, here's what I do each time I start WMP10 and want to play music.

1. Launch WMP10 (Starts in Library Screen)
2. (At this stage if I look in "My Music"->"All Music" there is no music there)
3. Menu -> Update Library
4. Press Search (12 files added)
5. Press Done
6. (Look at "My Music"->"All Music" again... there is still no music added to the music library!!)

Why aren't the wma files being added to the library, even though they are detected? Am I placing my files in a bad folder structure? Does it not work if using Built-In Storage?

At the moment, the only way for me to play an entire album is to do this.
1. Launch WMP10
2. Menu -> Open File...
3. Browse to the Built-In Storage/Music/ Folder
4. Hold down on the folder of the album that I want to play, and say Queue Up

Of course, this is very annoying. I wish it was like WMP on my desktop computer, where I can start up the program and already have all my music loaded in the Library.

Thanks for the response, Howard2k.

Anyway, I've tried these new combinations but none of them work. Still can't add to Library properly.

\BIS\My Documents\Album 1

\BIS\My Documents\Music\Album 1

\BIS\My Documents\My Music\Album 1

Any ideas?

1. Sd and Compact flash cards run at around
$25.00 or less for 512 MB

2. Did you create a playlist on your PC or if you want to do it on your Axim there is a freeware playlist editor
(search this site)

I will try to give you a site for playlist editor later
I presume you asked to update the library so all playlist will show up?

Just my 2 cents

Yep, I just want some way to add the songs to the library so that they will show up.

I ended up getting a 512Mb CF on eBay and ordering a 1Gb SD online. But I don't have either of those yet. Hopefully this issue will resolve itself once I get either of those.

About point 2, nice idea. Maybe I'll just make a playlist and see if that works. (Don't have to click as much, adding each folder.)

Edit: I used the playlist editor from http://www.cs.pitt.edu/~jmisurda/ppc/ . Found it whilst searching forums, introduced by bogdank.

Glad it worked out. About the playlist editor - I did not read instructions so it took a bit of playing around - that's why I bring up 2 points.

Remember

1. In order to import whole directories (and subdirectories)
go to Edit and then Import (in the playlist editor).
And of course save the playlist.

2. Once you create and save the playlist you need to Update Library (in your WMP).

After posting the above
:-)

Now I see there is a new version - 1.3 that has a button in toolbar.

:-)
