Is there a converter that converts rm into other formats?

I have not much luck with Real player on my x50v. For some reasons, it can't run properly. There is always a black patch at the bottome of the screen.

Unfortunately, I have some rm clips. Is there a converter that can convert the rm files into other formats?

Sorry I don't have a particular recommendation, but if you Google for "RM to AVI" (for example), there are lots of hits:

Have you tried any of them?

I also have some RM files, and to date, I haven't been able to get the RealPlayer for the PPC to play them. I don't know what version of the RM encoder they were done with, which makes it more difficult. I tried a bunch of converters in the past, but was never able to find one that actually worked. At least not with the demo/free versions I had found. I was hesitant to pay for retail versions, when the demo versions didn't seem to either work at all, or very well.

Seems like every 6 months or so, I give them another try. Maybe I will have to try some again now, and if I find any that work, I will post here.

Here is what I have found.
First, I installed RealAlternative (free) on my PC.
Then, I installed WinAVI Video Converter 7. (demo version)
Converting rm files is breeze. WinAVI is simple and fast. There is no need to browse through lenghty guides or manual. A few clicks and you are done! WinAVI can convert rm to avi, wmp, ...., and vice versa. Great versatility.

Downside - WinAVI (demo) leaves an ugly watermark on the converted video. You must pay to get rid of the watermark:-(

So, my hunt is still on. Looking for a freeware converter:-)
