Saving Settings in GSPlayer

I'm a very new PPC user (Axim x50v) and have been very impressed with the quality of GSPlayer for Internet streaming. But my selected options for button configuration, equalizer, etc., aren't being saved when I exit the program (using Switcher Bar to actually close the program).

Is there something more I need to do for a PPC program to tell it to save its configuration, or is this a known problem with GSPlayer? Thanks!

Just tried this, but it didn't help. It's one of the options that just gets cleared out when I exit the program. Very frustrating! Thanks just the same.

Could it be because I've installed it to BIS instead of main memory? I checked the directory where it is installed and only see the program executable and no settings files of any sort. I can't imagine the program doesn't have some way of saving settings/preferences. Makes it a lot of work to re-define my function buttons each time I re-start the program...

Yup, it's the latest version. It shows version 2.22.

I've tried uninstalling from BIS and re-installing into main memory. It didn't make a difference. Very strange.

Do you (or anyone else reading this) run GSPlay and does it remember settings after exiting and re-starting? Thanks again.

I had this problem too, try saving your playlist after you reset your settings, I think that did the trick...

Gsplayer saves all my settings When exit then return. Do you remove the media with music (CF or SD) or switch them around? I know when i remove my cf card then go back to GS it doesn't show the play list.

Try this modified version I just made. It should save the options as soon as you close the dialog box.

http://www.cs.pitt.edu/~jmisurda/ppc...Player2.23.zip

Just unzip it over your previous installation. This is based on my modified VGA version of GSPlayer 2.22.

Let me know if it helps any.

Thanks, guys, for the added info. I did try saving a playlist, but it still didn't recall my settings. I've downloaded the updated GSPlayer (wow, neat!) and will give it a try and report back in the morning (bedtime has arrived in Washington! :) )

Jon,
if you are good with the coding could you alter some other things...
I would love to be able to double map the side buttons. Currently they can only operate based on a tap but if you could change that so that if I held the button it would have s different function, well that would just be awesome... Are you up to it?

Jon - thanks for the upgrade. The skins don't seem to work with your version - I assume because of the VGA? Anyone make any VGA skins yet?

Also - I'm having trouble with streaming - my WiFi connection is a bit weak and the music pauses a lot. Could anyone share their buffer settings and would this solve the problems I'm having? TIA.

Check out this thread http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=85530 for a VGA greenpanel, an iTunes skin, and a post by me on how to use the VGA greenpanel as a template to make your own (or add VGA support to an existing skin.)

Since this is a direct challenge to my programming prowess ;) I'll have to try! I'm not sure how hard this is with the existing code, so no promises on the timeline, but i'll look into it.

Perfect! Your tweaked version saves all user settings from one run/exit cycle of the program to the next like a champ. Thanks so much! Any idea why this seems to be a problem for some but not all of us?

The previous version only saved settings on a close from the File menu, and the "unclean" close of being closed by switcher bar seemed to bypass the save code. I just changed it to save when you dismiss the options dialog.

Jon - Thank you so much for pointing out the thread for skins and for enhancing the program for VGA. I have been using this program forever - well for a couple a years at least - on my Ipaq 2200 and I didn't even know a VGA version existed. Wonderful!
