Axim X50v as MP3 player?

I'm a definite newbie when it comes to PDAs so please bear with me. I'm interested in using the Axim as an MP3 player and need some help. I have done some searching but haven't found excactly what I'm looking for. I'd welcome any recommendations on available software that would best meet the following feature list:

1. Control the player (i.e. browse by album/artist/genre, etc.)using primarily the hard buttons and not having to use the stylus.

2. Display Album art.

3. Show ID3 tag info when playing songs (i.e. title/artist/album)

4. Ability to easily browse a relatively large number of songs as I am using 4GB CF card.

I've used WMP and GSPlayer so far. WMP looks promising but is awkward to navigate. I was able to album art to work just by copying my MP3 music folders to my CF card using a CF reader. There may quite possibly be some settingd I am overlooking that could help with the ease of use.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I use WMP10, but then again I don't have 4GB of music. The sync feature of WMP10 along with a card reader works well. But you are correct, sorting all that music can be a pain. Good Luck~

Try WM10 + Microsoft Voice Command- you can play songs, and show contacts and start programs with your voice. Sadly, its not free, still, check out the trial

There is a program that simulates the iPod interface, so it should be easy to scroll through tons of music. But the company was forced to stop selling it, so it's a little harder to find now.

40iplay. I've put 40,000 tunes in it. Takes about 20 seconds to start up though. For the usual count, it's ready to play in 2 seconds from a dead start. Here's a pic or two (I put a few here but get it's always a drag having to resize them to fit the too-small limits here):

and probably a hundred more if you look around there. By the way, I don't use playlists myself, except to start up a very rare html shoutcast link (only in the reg. server version).

Best of all, it blows the doors off any iPod as far as sound performance goes -- it makes an iPod sound like your father's AM radio.
Take a hike. You're a backstabbing, two-faced bozo. I haven't done anything that some jerk like you didn't provoke. P.S. You're not a long-time customer - you're a long-time backstabber, though, going back to Coffing's site. You want my response? I'll say it again: Take a hike!

I use Conduits pocket player + MS Voice Command. I just say "play pink floyd" and it plays all the Pink Floyd songs. or I can say "play <genre name>".. all the tracks from that genre are played. or I'll just say "play all" to play all the sound files on my PPC. really easy that way. Also, Conduits Pocket Player produces the best sound (and I've tried quite a few players) with its built in equalizer. the interface is great (full VGA/QVGA skin support) too with playlists and everything! install the trial version.. see if you like it.

Thanks for all the replies. WMP is getting a little easier to use with practice. One huge improvement would be the ability to use the hard buttons (especially button1 and button2) to select the WMP menus on the bottom left of the screen. The menu labels line up almost perfectly over those 2 buttons. Is there any way to assign the buttons to a WMP function or menu? Thanks again.

jayerndl: You have just run into one of the most popular complaints with WMP10, it is impossible to freely assign the hardware buttons as you would like.
