New hardware idea...
Does anyone know if a CF device that would serve as a pager/beeper exists? Is this crazy or does anyone else think this might work?

If they could make it a beaper/storage card that would be ok....
There are new GPS CF cards that also have CF storage to them kinda cool

anyway the beaper would be stupid or dumb with out having storage...Why would you wanna keep a beaper in your CF slot all the time?

I was just thinking that I would like a CF card wireless networking and a Infrared extender would be cool to use the Ax as a remote..... Do you suppose someone could combine both on a CF card???? Maybe a GPS too while I am dreaming?

Would be neat if there was an CF X-10 RF controller. Imagine turing on all the lights with the PDA. how about changing the AC/Heat settings, checking the cameras around the house with streaming video, turning on the yard sprinklers, hot tub and pretty much the whole entertainments system.

just touching upon io333's comment...

Definitely check out netremote.org. That site has a ridiculous amount of information. You want to control x10 stuff throughout the house - no problem.

The way I understand it, is you can have netremote control just about anything that a computer can with their FREE software and a wifi card.

I don't have a wireless network in my apartment (yet), so I haven't been able to play around with it much yet. There are a TON of possibilities with this software.

Using this software will probably have a relatively steep learning curve for some. One would have to be comfortable reading through documentation. Probably not too much of an issue for most readers here
