Protective leather case for Axim

PocketJoey provides protection and practical means for use of the Axim while on the move. A hybrid cross between a cellphone case and holster, the Axim remains in the case at all times, allowing for hands-free operation, various accessories and protection against drop, bump, scratches and possible loss. Features a lanyard for around the neck and removable belt clip.

Ideal for GPS when you're in and out of vehicles, boats, planes or use with GPRS cellphone CF accessory, bar code scanner CF, MP3 listening or users in business who need their Axim with them, yet out of the way.

New Concept?

What's the new concept? A lanyard?

Other than that it's an open face holster with a belt clip. That's not exactly radical technology. It's also not very protective.

Now that's protective! I love my Basecamp!

looks VERY flimsy to me - I'd go for aa ArmorbyOtter case that has a neck lanyard option available: http://www.armorbyotter.com/3600access.cfm

Why anyone would want any kind of case that exposes that nice, expensive screen to whatever might slam into it is beyond me.

If I wanted that, I'd just superglue a belt clip to the battery.

I Don't Think So

With my luck and my work enviroment I would probably hang myself. There are better ways to look silly.

You know what would be my idea of the perfect case? One that clips to my belt, is plastic (for full protection), opens up to form a mini-desktop that holds my Ax so that I could use it on my hip.

I saw one similar to this somewhere, but it was made of leather and didn't offer enough protection on the sides of the Ax.

Is THIS the one you were thinking about? Ballistic nylon instead of plastic, but looks quite sturdy. I was really looking at this myself, but would have prefered a belt clip instead of velcro-loop.

I like the idea of this case but it seems rather large to wear daily. That joey case looked terrible though. I am still looking for a case for my 2 day old Ax

Chris...
No, I hadn't seen this one. Looks like a nice case, but I agree with both of you... I'd prefer a belt clip (since I don't wear a belt, but suspenders) and it looks a bit thick... easily 1 1/2" for my nice, thin Axim. :p

Other than that... they have a pretty decent idea, I think. But if I were WISHING... I'd wish for a close-fit plastic case that snaps open rather than unzips on 3 sides. Quick access, protection, ease of use. That's all we ask. :crooked:

The ALMOST nicest case I've seen thus far is the Innopockets (Rhinohide) case, but it has two rotten exceptions:

1) No belt clip (of course, a stick-on could be added by visiting Wal-mart, but a stick-on can also come off).

2) The edges, while "finished" to an extent are still edgy enough to cut through jacket pockets, making the unit undesirable for us business-suit types.

If you want a good case, go to Kmart or Walmart, women's accessories, and find a nice $6.95 handbag that can be adapted to form a good case. That's what I did... found one for $3.oo on a closeout, got out my scissors and a hobby knife and a few slices later, primo case!

You can see more about my too-cheap-to-buy-a-case excursions here:
