Best Charger around!!
This is by far the best charger ever!! I purchased that emergency 9volt charger from Seidio and was totally unpleased. Come to found out (and they don't advertise this) that the charger will only work if your Axim is DEAD! One nine volt battery could probably get you up to 40% or less. Trust me..this is a must have for hardcore Axim movie watchers or gamers.

Hey. Not everyone is as Tech Savvy as you. The 9 volt seidio charges you 18.00 dollars. And it doesn't even do half what this new one does. I threw my Seidio in the garbage. Really doesn't help with extended battery life. It's strictly "Emergency" use only.

I had a hunch since you are a new member that you maybe pimping your product but I won't prosecute you for it. All I'm saying is that the price of that product is in the area of $5-10USD too high. When you factor in shipping, and if they live outside the US duties and such this product will cost a substantial amount. As for the figure for the charger you threw in there, $18, that really depends on where you pick up your charger from, prices vary. The market for Pocket PC products is relatively small and people can get away with charging over the top prices sometimes, this is why I am quick to shoot down some products for their inflated prices.

Sorry for being such a downer. I'm sure for this price one does recieve a good charger, you apparently have experience with previous chargers and have built one that I expect should be superior. So it maybe worth it for many of you out there, it's still cheaper than an extended battery.

Hey. I'm just shopping for convenience. If anyone has wasted money on the Seidio they'll feel me on this. I paid 18 dollars only to call tech support the next day and find out it's not what you think it is. It's not a "charger". It just provides enough power to turn the thing on. After that experience I'm just looking out for other Axim users. The only thing that gets charged is your bank account. hahahahaha

Hey. It wasn't funny when I found out the thing ended up as a door stop. Instead of hating on people why don't you just let them know that what I'm saying is true.

I don't hate you, more power to you and you're product. As I said in a few posts previous your product is most likely superior to other chargers out there because it is specifically for handhelds. Don't take my sctrutiny as hatred. We all have to make a living.

If that charger is what it appears to be, a box that holds 4 AA's, then it is overpriced by 200% or more. I can even get you as many links as you wish for $10 or under, in several countries. Or the Radio Shack part #'s to make your own. Heck I even made one from a plastic Q-tip box, and I've still got the Q-tips!

Don't get me wrong, it is a good idea. And should charge your battery at least once even with inferior batteries, probably 2-3 times.

Also don't believe the FAQ on that site re the 1.5 vs 1.2 volt thing. Alkalines start at 1.5, but then drop consistently until dead, giving much less than 1.5v on average. NIMH (or NiCad) start at 1.2 or higher, but maintain an AVERAGE voltage close to 1.2 until nearly empty, when they fall off very quickly. Plus alkalines are throwaway, and are more expensive in the long run.

Although it looks like a decent enough product, why not just buy a second battery? A second battery wouldnt be as heavy. It wouldn't take up as much space and I've seen some prices not much higher than this product.

Good idea on the second battery. I used to carry two batteries for my cell phone too. I still needed to find an outlet to be tied to. And two Axim batteries won't help me on my 14 hour flight end of month.

Another solution you might consider is the Digipower DPS9000. This is a (I think) 3400ma Lion battery that comes with adapters for many cameras and a 5v stepdown cable that works with the Axim. The kit includes both AC and 12v charging cables.

I can recharge my Axim several times from this unit without having to recharge the Digipower battery. Several Aximsite users own them and the comments all seem positive.

Got mine at Best Buy for $32.99.

I for one would like to see the links you mentioned and/or the Radio Shack part #'s. I would love to make my own.

It would be great to have a forum dedicated to step-by-step instructions for making useless crap for the axim Seriously though, It would be great if someone explained how to build this. I bet I could figure it out on my own, but I would probably go through 5 axims doing it.
