OK, I know, this may be outrageous, but I'll ask anyway.
How do we ask Michael (Michael Dell that is) to produce a TrueMobile 3-way CF card that is:
1. Tri-Band GSM (T-Mobile, DT, AT&T, Cingular, etc), [Audiovox makes one that's avail. at Expansys.com]
2. 802.11 Wi-Fi, and [D-Link, Linksys, others]
3. Bluetooth [not many devices avail. yet]
Here's the thinking.
1. One device for PDA and phone together. A 300 MHz or 400MHz Axim with Pocket PC leaves all 'smartphone' competitors (Handspring, Siemens, etc.) in the dust. Also GPRS availability for wireless access to e-mail.
2. Wi-Fi at hotspots including airports, professional conferences, coffeeshops, etc is far faster than GPRS
3. Bluetooth for interface to stereo headphones, wireless phone earbuds, transmission to bluetooth-enabled car and home audio systems
Possible problems:
Size and weight. I don't know, I'm not an electronics or computer engineer.
Power consumption. Again, not an electronics or computer engineer. Is this type of think even feasible?
Demand. Are there enough of us that would use all 3 to justify production of such a 'wunder-device'
Of course D-link, or Netgear, or Siemens, or Linksys could also make such a device. Does Dell really manufacture the TrueMobile products or are they rebranded hardware made by another company?
Just ideas. It's where it all starts.
