CF/SD port to female USB receptacle adapter

We all know that most of our PDA's do not have a USB connector of any kind. On the oder hand there are lots of devices that can be connected to our PDA using the CF and/or SD ports (GPS, BARCode Scanners, termomenters, cameras etc.).
Now I was wondering if out there there is any product capable of transforming a CF or SD port into a USB female receptacle.
If there isn't, don't you think it would be fantastic? We could use our USB memory mass storage devices with our PDA, or, with some software help, and probably some external power help, potentially all the USB hardware existing around for the PC world!

With a more in deep internet search, I found out this link to a company that actually produces the adaptor I was dreaming about

Ratoc CF - USB host adapter is the only thing currently on the market.
Twin Paradox CF - USB host adapter is on the way.
http://www.twin-paradox.com
Note that Twin Paradox has been in the works for quite awhile. I think they are a small design firm, working part-time or something like that. Their latest release date is much closer than previous release dates, so I think they may actually be releasing the product, finally. At $89.99 instead of $141.95 is a healthy savings. The Ratoc card has been around for a few years, however, and they have a healthy driver database. The Twin Paradox card does support HID (keyboard, mouse), flash memory, hubs, external HDD's, etc. but hasn't been tested with everything out there, considering it hasn't been released yet (Apr. 11 is current release date).

Not a whole card, but Maxim makes a USB host chip that interfaces via SPI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_...eral_Interface).

Since SPI is supported by the SD interface (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital), it could work! Of course, the biggest problem would be the drivers. (So please help!) But I at least found the solution to the hardware problem. (Time to make a card!)

Does sombody make the chip that support USB host - USB device interface. IMHO It should be easy like the current loop with RS232. Does it not?

By the way: this technology is called USB On-the-GO. Unfortantly, although articles tell that OTG (USB On-the-go) will hit market soon I found only one device that implements OTG: it is http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=245923

but 1) It is not exactly what we are talking about because support the file transfer only 2) I dont know how it is comparatible with Axim. Theoretically it should work if Axim supports USB Mass interface ( for example when CardExport or WM5torage is installed on the Axim)

Well, there is a way to transfer memory. SanDisk Ultra II SD has a built-in USB. Just pop it out of your Axim and insert it into any Windows XP computer and your'e good to go. However there is no file conversion so you have to play with it a little bit. It does not fit into the Axim SD slot while the USB is exposed. Nevertheless, it's a sweet device for transferring memory and having it on hand whereever I go.

:approve: There is a USB flash drive software driver available at http://www.deje.gmxhome.de/download.html, but I don't know if it will work with an Axim because it does not have host USB software built-in, I think.
