Is there a snap on game pad for the axim? I have seen that the Compaq (i believe) had a snap on unit that resembled a gameboy pad. Anyone know if there is something similar for the Axim?
well I've posted this one a while ago which is more like a regular corded SNES type gamepad, which is what I would want anyway, plus at $15us this would be a no brainer if not for the shipping from korea and for the fact it is made for them ipaqs.
Nobody seemed to care on my first post but... here it is again

if I was sure this thing works with the axim, and if it allowed for 2 player games, I'd buy it easily.
Very interesting. I see that the hardware is for iPaq only, as it connects to the iPaq serial port. Surely, if somebody could get a hold of some Axim serial connectors, it couldn't be THAT hard to chop off that iPaq connector and solder on an Axim connector. I haven't messed with this on PDA connectors, so I could be way off. Seems like you'd just need a pinout diagram of the iPaq and a pinout diagram of the Axim.
I was actually thinking the same thing
a few weeks ago, I even printed out pin-outs
and everything, even dug out my old
game pad... My next step was to order
a serial connector for the Axim from
moonlight-tech.com only 10 bucks would
not be too much of a waste if i messed up
but then again, i dont know jack about
pinout and electronics! :-)
Was just going to test myself ..

Heh, Sounds like me. I like to mess with electronics, but you stick a soldering iron in my hand and you've created a monster. Usually end up melting everything BUT the solder. :)
A company called Ben-Q has a pad for the Ipaq. So I emailed them to ask if they would make one for the Axim as there seemed to be alot of interest on the board. They just said to check back. Atleast they didn't say, No. :D

iam probably wrong but in the dell website store there is an item called the Snap-On Keyboard for Dell Axim X5 Handheld
will this be anygood for gaming or is it just for quick typing? snap on keyboard pic
it retials for around 44 pounds?
I haven't personally used it, but have heard others say that most games/emulators don't allow you to map controls to the snap-on keyboard's buttons. Anyone with snap-on keyboard had luck with it?
Heh, I'm pretty sure he just photoshopped that to see if this is what we were envisioning. Cagey, yes that is what everyone seems to be talking about here. Either that or one similar to the BenQ that snaps on (similar to the snap-on thumboard). I personally wouldn't use one, but know that some of these serious PPC gamers would. Maybe I can mess with it over the summer....since it doesn't look like I'm gonna be working. I could always use some extra $$ at that point if I can get anything working. :)

Yea, its not a real product. I think people would rather use an existing controller than these cheap ones that are always shown. I can't be that hard to do....
