Hmmm. Could be interesting. Can Dell bring us a UMPC at a reasonable price?
We can only hope! Would be nice to have a fully capable yet fully portable PC. I would have all sorts of external storage and a USB hub or two, dock that puppy and plug in the external monitor, when I'm home.
Same here. I hope Dell makes it nice and small and the price very good (500-700 region, like Bill Gates originally promised). If they can manage that i'm a buyer, but above all, it would make for competition, forcing competitors to lower their prices.

Battery life is another thing that I hope Dell nails. If they do give us a 700$ unit with 1.2 ghz ULV Core Solo processor (<----- wishing) I sure hope the battery lasts longer than 2 hours.

I actually think Dell will bring exactly what is needed to the UMPC market. They have always been very good with value for money, and as well all know the current UMPCs are anything but cheap.
I would wait for the Dell UMPC but it is just going to take too long until it gets here, it hasn't even been officially announced yet. I am waiting for the Asus r2h myself.
I'm thinking it's gotta have a Core μP, by the timetable and by the simple facts of power consumption and capability. Core is based on PIII Tualatin offshoot Pentium M, which is quite mature as far as low-power mobile processors are concerned.
LOL, 700 dollars still seems high. I would rather have a Axim for 350. I like pure PDA's more then I like the idea of portable PC's.
Yeah I can see what you are saying, I believe in the long run UMPCs will wipe out the top of the range PDAs. The whole pocketability thing is not a large issue for me, my axim was hardly ever carried in my pocket. I think 700 dollars is not too high at all though, if you think how much tablets are still going for nowadays.
