Hmm Twin Paradox CF USB Host card SolarExpress PDA II availability?

Hi All

I know that it may come as a shock but I got this email today saying the above from Twin Paradox store. Anyone else get an email & whos going to be the first to boney-up their credit card # & try them?

I'm using the Rotac CF Host USB 1.0 card & I wouldn't mind the increase to USB 2.0 speed but I'm wary of dipping my toe in .......

What are your thoughts Afarre & others?

1: Go for it & order one?
2: Wait for a blogg review & see?
3: Don't touch them with a barge poll [vapourware alert]:exc: ?

Thanks optical10

ps. I screwed up the poll questions insertion, moderators can you sort it out for me?

Sounds like a great way to start checking them [Twin Paradox store] out for customer relations etc.

I dont think the axims cf slot can reach usb 2.0 speed it may not even be able to utilize the full usb 1.0 speed. How long does the ratco card take to transfer say a 100mb file from external drive to the axim and also the other way from axim to external drive ? usb 1.0 is supposed to be 15mb/s and usb 2.0 is about 400mb/s

Sorry Guyz

Looks like I've been guilty of wishful thinking on Twin Paradox previous claims of 2.0 USB speeds. I've re-read the tech docs and it seems theres now no mention of 2.0 USB speeds , just 1.1 USB complience!

That will teach me not to post after no sleep.

So looks like this thread is dead before it began.

Thankz for the heads-up axzilla

Just got an e-mail saying that international orders are now open, so there are no more excuses now.
Here is the link

Who will be the first brave one?

1.5x the price to ship to Canada? O_O Forget it. Not even touching it unless you have 4 USB2.0 480mbps ports.

I can take USPS no problem. Sure, it is slow, but $20 USD is better than $45 USD*.

* Last time I checked, $10 shipped from US via Fedex for my purchase of $140 CF card.

Ratoc CF USB 1.0 card working fine [why bother with the Twin Paradox?]

Other than no NTFS file support via WM5 the transfer speed is OK for audio etc via the Ratoc . So unless someone brings out a version 2.0 speed USB CF card I'm happy dealing with a existing company like Ratoc.

Hope this helps someone.

I totally agree, why pay more $$ for something thats not any better. It also looks like the the twin paradox is alot bigger then the ratoc. (sticks out way too much for me.)

If you guys don't want it, then don't buy it, you haven't read any reviews about Solarexpress, yet you already made up your minds about it.
You had to know about those things you're complaining about because it was on
the Twin Paradox website all the long. so why bring up it up now?

Icon14 Reasons to be wary...the case of the missing speed

I started this thread [if you've read it all] to gauge the communities thoughts on what I initially thought was the long promised 2.0 speed USB CF card promised by Solarexpress because I received an email from their sales department [which must be lightconecorp.net now] as I haven't given my private email to any other Manu's for this product. So it's a case of them bringing it up & seeking my hard earn cash.

So this raises important issues that everyone in the market for such a interface needs to be aware of:
1) Can this company who has changed their name be trusted with our money?
2) Also as no mention was made to me [ in the email from lightconecorp.net] that the 2.0 speed functionality has been dropped in this model, wouldn't it be wise to warn others, as I nearly went ahead an ordered it without realizing it was 1.0 speed [as per Ratoc card].

So there you have it, forums are for sharing, in this wicked world the common man needs all the heads-up he or she can muster:)
