Im going to wait for the dell thumb board to go on sale before I buy it. They are always having 10%-15% off of Software & Peripherals. Just have to catch them when they are on sale or subscribe to there email newsletters and catalogs. They have coupon codes they include.
Maybe someone could post here when they see them on sale
I purchased a snap on keyboard when I ordered my Axim. I used to have the Jornada 567 with the keyboard/cover and I really liked it. I periodically travel and sit in seminars and/or on buses where the foldout keyboard is not conducive to taking the kind of notes I need. I love the keyboard.
The only place that I see it can be ordered on the Dell website is through the "customize it" link by the overview of the Axim's (and there is a note that the snap on keyboard may delay delivery).
As a previous user of the Jornada snap on keypad, I suspect that this is not a Mobileplanet product, but just a situation where mobile planet is selling an HP product to go with the Ipaq. I do share your "interest" in the combined unit and wish that Dell had/would make one for the Axim--I would buy it even though I already have the current thumpad and a case on order.

I ordered the thumb pad yesterday, 3-03-03 by calling dell. Not going to ship until the 17th of march they said. Maybe that is a reason its not for sell as a seperate item. Have no other choice but to wait or hope that some 3rd party maker comes out with one in the mean time.
Does anyone who has the thumbpad have the software that allows you to create hotkeys? I received my thumbpad really early and the manual describes a tab devoted to setting up hot keys yet, my software is missing the tab.
I would really love to build some shortcuts.
Any help is appreciated.
I called Dell about the Thumb keyboard; they matched the price on the Higher Education Website (42$) but added 8$ shipping (50$ total, no tax). It says it won't ship until on or after March 25 but after ordering it yesterday, I looked online and it says it has shipped and on its way to the local carrier. Guess I'll cross my fingers. BTW, if you need a case, get a slipper case from Ebcases.com. They are *amazing* The magnetic closure and thin profile is the best.
Just got mine today, pretty cool but could be a tad bit bigger.
They should of added another row for numbers. There is plenty of room where the Dell logo goes. Not worth more then 20 bucks but nobody else makes them besides dell so were at there mercy to pay whatever they want to charge us
I personally don't like how the keys "click" all the time. That will get annoying if I'm taking notes in a meeting with it which is the primary purpose I bought it. I'd love if they made rubber silent keys.

Turn off the clicking noise under the start>programs>dell keyboard options
I did that. But they keys themselves click on the KB even when it's not connected to the unit at all. It's a hardware clicking noise that you wouldn't get from rubber keys.
To answer a lot of questions - I just ordered the "Snap-On" or "Thumb" keyboard from Dell Canada and I got it for, with free shipping, CDN$69 (heh, sorry) + tax.
They stated the shipping time couldn't be guaranteed, and it might take the full 14 days - but I have patience. Bluetooth connection to my phone and remote ActiveSync are cool enough toys for now
I just called Dell's 800# and put in extention 62470 and asked for the snap on KB. No problem, it only took a few days to get here (NY). Why is everyone ordering from Canada?
