Has anyone seen an External Foldable Keyboard for the Dell Axim X5 from 3rd party vendors? I am hoping that an External Foldable Keyboard from a 3rd party vendor would be less expensive than the version from Dell.

Also any 3rd party vendors for snapon thumbboards?

I would highly recommend the Pocketop Keyboard . I got mine yesterday, loaded the drivers and started typing away !!! It worked without a single hitch. I love it's feel and design, the fact that it is iR (infrared/wireless), compact (folds to make it's own case w/ the pda stand attaching to it as well), looks great and works even better.

Very glad I made this purchase as I would prefer direct entry into my Axim rather than on the desktop PC and synching the info. over to the pocket PC, or trying to use the stylus w/ a screen keyboard.

I can type 80+ words per minute and the keyboard keeps up flawlessly with me. I got it for $79 - $20 off the usual $99 price and also FREE shipping ( a special Pocketop was running on the www.aximusers.com site through Jan. 22 ).

I bought a separate case from Wilson Leather that holds my Axim, business cards, credit cards, cash, receipts, has a to do pad w/ pen and storage pockets, so I use the Dell leather case I got with the Axim to carry this Pocketop Keyboard/Stand, extra Axim battery, and storage cards. Great combination . . .

My Pocketop rocks, and Targus still hasn't mentioned the Axim. It folds up smaller than the Axim too.

Thumbpads are going for $20 for older units, so it shouldn't be long for the Axim to be included.

I got a Pocketop too but so far they have charged me the full price. I did follow the instructions of the earlier post.
Amyway I do like the Pocketop. It is easy to use and I had no problems installing the driver. I like being able to rotate the screen also. It does seem like they may have rushed it to market because it came with adaptors to mount the palm to it instead of just sitting on the support.
I would recommend it to anyone that wants to type on an external keyboard.
I still want my rebate.

Dell is having nothing but problems getting the keyboard out. I ordered mine in early December and was told I'd get it December 30. Then they called and said it would be January 14. Then they called and said Feb. 4. We'll see. I also read somewhere (PCWorld mag?) that Dell has run into a lot of frustration with their shipper regarding all things Axim. I'd have given up long ago and bought a third party keyboard, but I just haven't seen a good one, though I've looked hard all over the place.

The Staples deal is great! My local Staples had the item in stock. I was able to get the Pocketop Keyboard up and running in just a few minutes and the $50 final price can't be beat.

I am very pleased!

I went to the staples site but I didn't see any instant rebate. When did you guys purchase the kb? I did see a mail-in rebater for $30 that needs to be mailed in by 2/8/03.
